H is for House Part 2
Well I finally finished Hannah and Ethan's house during their nap today. I worked quickly so I could get it all done. First I cut out the window and door and reattached the door on one side with duct tape (sort of like a hinge). Next, I painted it a little more to make it more even (not necessary but I thought it would look nice). Then, I added the fun bits. I put on a door bell by stringing a jingle bell and attaching it above the door. I made a curtain out of a tea towel. I made the mailbox out of an empty formula can and brown paper. I poked two holes in the back and in the house, then I was able to string a piece of twine to attach the can. The mail was leftover cardboard that I wrote on with a sharpie. I used some of my felt numbers for the house numbers. Finally, what house is complete without a porch light (an empty applesauce container with a battery tea light)? Have a look at how much fun they had.

Wooden Color Disks
I really enjoyed making the alphabet and number circles so much that I knew I wanted to find something fun for the wooden circles I had left over. Colors. I just modge podged on a colored circle onto each disk. I think I would like to make another set so that we can play a matching game with them too. Then there would be more leftovers. Oooh I like that idea. If you don't have Mod Podge don't fret you can make your own, just mix 50% glue and 50% water in a clean jar.

H is for Huge House part 1
So this is the big project I have been working on (Andrew did the actual cutting, I'm not allowed to play with knives). By big I mean in size. When I brought it out and told Hannah she was going to paint it her eyes went equally as big. This is the first part of the project. Today we painted it. When I saw the weather I knew it needed to be soon. Once it starts raining here it may be awhile before it stops (I'm not complaining I like the rain.). But we were not going to paint it inside so it needed to be done.
Right not it is a huge cardboard shaped house. I figured it would be easier to paint before I cut out windows and doors.
Having never painted on such a huge surface it was fun to watch Hannah .
Everyone helped, some bailed early to cuddle on the couch.
Hannah is painting a bird in a nest.
Look at those hands!!!
An artist at work.
She knew she could paint everywhere but really she painted the same 2 places over and over.
I really liked painting outside, aside from the fast cleanup it was also very relaxing.
Stay tuned for part 2: Doors and Windows.

H is Home, Hot, and Happy
As we worked are way through our H activities today, we had extra fun because Daddy joined us. I had everything ready for Hannah after her nap on the kitchen table. She came downstairs and a few minutes later meandered into the kitchen. Not long after, Andrew called me into the kitchen too. Hannah very patiently sat at the kitchen table waiting for me to come in so she could start her activities.
Hot and Cold
The cup on the left has the very hot water and the cup on the right has ice water.
She needed to hold it herself.
If the cup was deemed cold enough, she drank it.
The "undrinkable" water with poured back and forth between cups.
Next, we did a simple house craft.
I love that there is a window on the chimney.
I labeled two baskets with either happy or sad and then cut our pictures from magazines for her to sort.
Her facial expressions mimicked whatever she saw in the pictures.
Happy
She had a harder time with sad pictures, (mostly from the range of sad expressions). The Happy pictures were easy.
Sad
Afterwards, we had lots of time to go down to the creek and play.
Playing with sticks (no eyes were injured).
Stay tuned for surprise activity for the letter H. It is almost ready.

Hammers and Hearts
Hannah woke up early today from her nap so we had a lot of fun (quietly) while Ethan slept on. First, I brought out the bin of colored rice and hid some little letter H`s. Hannah loves to bury and hide things and we did this over and over, as I tried to pretend that rice was not clattering all over the floor.
I made the colored rice a awhile back and it still holds up well. The rule: If its lands on the floor it ends up in the garbage.
Where are they mamaÉ
After a little while, the H`s became cookies and the rice sprinkles.
Of course we had to sweep up afterwards.
Next, Hannah hammered golf tees into a Styrofoam H.
Yes, that is a real hammer. My mom always says a women should have her own tools. This is MY hammer.
Placing the Tees
Pulling them out again.
This was my find of the day. Ethan and I went to a thrift shop and I found this Leap Frog fridge alphabet toy for nothing compared to the full price at Toys R Us.
I separated out the letters we have done, so Hannah can play with them.
When you push the magnetic letter into the holder it says its name and sound.
The is the ``heart`` balloon I tied to the ceiling fan (after seeing something similar on Peaceful Parenting). I actually had a heart shaped balloon but I managed to pop it before I could hang it. So I found my sharpie and added some hearts to a red balloon.
Hannah was hitting the balloon and twirling.
I love that Ethan is collapsed on the floor off to the side.
Up again. Nice jab.
This is Hannah`s third narration picture. I wish the colors photographed better.
