Water Painting

I feel like I haven't been around much, and not for lack of desire for posting either.  Truth is I haven't been spending a whole lot of time inside.  The weather here has been beautiful and no surprise the kids are spending every available minute outside playing.  We haven't spent any time at all sitting at the table doing activities.  But I am not worried (all though I just about ready to get to the end of the alphabet and start something  new) but there will be time enough for that later (the rain will arrive again soon I'm sure).  For  the moment I am enjoying watching the kids play outside.  Here is one of their favorite activities to do outside; painting with water.

First they gave Ethan's bike a new paint job.

This was a lengthy procedure involving a lot of water.

Then the ground needed sprucing up.

Then of course things got a bit crazy when Ethan started painting himself.

No surprise to see Hannah "help" Ethan.

Mommy said enough is enough when they both started painting their eyes.

Mother's Day

I had a great day with my family today, we went to church this morning and while Andrew was still busy with Sunday school, I took the kids to a nearby park.  Turns out the geese just had all their eggs hatch, so we saw the cutest little goslings waddling around.  Afterwards, we had a great lunch at my sisters, followed by reading in the backyard while the kids played all afternoon.  Here are some of the pictures of the kids playing at the park (as well as the goslings).

Friday Fun

This past Friday the kids, my sister, and I joined some friends for pizza and then some play time at the park. It was a lot of fun and the weather was perfect.  We started off by picking up some pizza from our pizza guy down the street.  Hannah thought it was really funny that we put the pizza under her feet but it made the walk so much easier and the pizza was no worse the the trip.

After our pizza dinner, we went to the park.  I was busy keeping an eye on the kids so I didn't have my camera out except to take the pictures at the swings.  Hannah enjoyed playing with her friends.  It was busy at the park so the swings were on high demand.  We decided to put the kids in together.  It was very cool and I wish I could take credit for this idea myself (Thanks Danielle). If only I knew this sooner I could have avoided a few fights between Hannah and Ethan who both LOVE to swing.

I wish I had taken some pictures of all the kids playing but it will have to wait for next time. As it was Hannah fell off one of the play structures (Don't worry she was okay after some hugs and kisses) so I really have to pay attention.

Nature Play in February

This time of year is hard.  While I try to do a good job getting the kids outside to play and explore.  It doesn't always happen, not only that but Ethan hates getting wet and will whine and cry the entire time,  So its not even fun.  Sometimes its nice to bring the outside inside.  Hannah especially enjoys doing activities like this no matter what the season.

This is our nature bucket.  Every time we are out and about and Hannah collects something to bring home it goes in the bucket.  She has sorts of things in their now.  Rocks, drift wood, shells, feathers, sand, and even little pieces of flowers.

When we need a reminder of what it is like outside, I bring it  out along with a tray.

Hannah likes to sort through and examine her treasures.

Such a serious girl sometimes.

Even Ethan can be persuaded to have a look.

A Walk in the Park

Yesterday, we took the kids for a walk down at the park.  The weather was mostly nice and not to cold so it was a great day to go.  Here are a few pictures from our walk:

Ethan looks so sad in this picture but I think he was just thinking deep thoughts.  hehehe

Puddle jumping.

Didn't take long to let go of my hand and go exploring.

Then he found Hannah's hand and they were off together.

We were fortunate to see this beautiful guy sitting in a tree. (Golden Eagle).

As well as this fat grey squirrel.

Father and Son

The river was much higher than we are used to seeing .

Hannah wanted to climb the tree.

Then of course Ethan made it know that he wanted a turn too.
