Happy New Year

Hannah and Ethan have been asking and asking to do their school activities.  Hehehehehe It warms my heart but makes me tired.  No amount of convincing that we are on a break until after the baby is born is helping.  After all when Andrew goes to work we typically get to work too.  So this morning when Andrew left for work they wanted to know what we were going to do for school.

So I decided to do an New Years activity that I found on "Tips from a Typical Mom".  It's a new years resolutions page for kids.  You can find it here.  I didn't really use it as a new years resolution thing so much as a way to ask the kids what they would like to do and learn over the next year.  They enjoy being interviewed and I find their answers amusing.  I didn't help them with any of their answers.

Hannah added pictures to each question.

Ethan colored the stars.

 Hannah
I'd like to get better at: taking care of Ben.
I'd like to share: my pom poms.
I'd really like to:  paint my toenails by myself.
I'd like to learn how to: read.
I want to read:  my bible, all my books, and the library books too.
I really need to:  get stronger.

 Ethan
I'd like to get better at: catching up with Daddy when we go hiking.
I'd like to share: my cars.
I'd really like to: dance.
I'd like to learn how to: cook in the kitchen.
I want to read:  a chapter book. (I have no idea where this came from).
I really need to:  go visit grandma and grandpa.

Of course one activity was just not enough.  I pulled out a bunch of art supplies for them to make a picture.

Happy New Year!!!

A Note From Hannah

Hannah wrote this note today during rest time.  It it is too sweet so I thought I would share.

It says (with edits):

To Mommy
I love you to the moon and back.
Love Mommy

I love that she wrote mommy twice with 2 different spelling.  She was quite offended when I pointed out that she signed it from mommy not from Hannah.

Daybook - December 23, 2013

Daybook - December 23, 2013

Outside My Window:
It is very green.  It’s also much warmer and I enjoyed the time that Hannah and Ethan happily played outside this afternoon.

I am Thankful for:  For the advent preparations that have gone so well this year because of the work I did last year.  I am thankful for the joy and the peace I have this season.

I am Thinking about: When this baby might make his appearance.  I waffle with wanting him born now so I will be more comfortable versus wanting to wait to the new year after the holidays have past.

In the Schoolroom:  Nothing is happening.  I am enjoying a much needed break.  I feel bad that Hannah keeps asking to do things.

From the Kitchen:  I finished making soup for Grandma for her Christmas present.  I made a bean and ham soup as well as a turkey barley and I wish there had been more leftover for Andrew and I to keep. :D

In the home:  Everyone is quiet.  The kids are both sleeping and Andrew is reading.

I am Creating:  Hannah’s birthday clip art for her invitations.  I know her birthday isn't for awhile but I was in the mood to create something.  I've made a fairy princess that I think she will like.

I am Reading:  A book given to me by a lovely friend that is being read far too fast.

I am listening to:  All Sons & Daughters - Brokenness Aside when I am in the car.  Andrew bought me the CD for the car and I just love it.

'Cause I am a sinner
If it’s not one thing it’s another
Caught up in words
Tangled in lies
You are the Savior
And you take brokenness aside
And make it beautiful
Beautiful

I am struggling:  With having enough energy to get through the day or even the next hour, with having more headaches then I can count.

.

Praying:  That Andrew would sleep better then he has been and that the kids would not wake us up early.

Plans for the week:  Enjoying my family.  Looking forward to going to my Auntie Linda’s tomorrow and my moms on Wednesday.

Preschool Week 15

Preschool Week 15

Bible: Our Advent stuff, see here.

Reading: Christmas Books

Language Arts and Handwriting: The Letter N practice

Chalk board letters.

Practicing the strokes for the letter n.

Finding the n sound pictures.

Adding some eggs to the N is for Nest picture.

 (HWT)

Math:  We made a homemade balance in order to To estimate which bears are heavier/ lighter.   This is basically what we made here.  I strung it between to chairs so it would be hands free.

The filled and compared many many times.

I had Hannah and Ethan fill the cups full but still even.

They compared the contents of the cups and found out that even though one cup had more bears it weighed the same as the other cup.

Gingerbread Roll and Stamp.  I saw this on Pre-K pages but I made my own.

(Compare Bears Maths)
(Montessori at Home(Math Section)

Art:  Making a Narwhal.  This was a big hit.  Easy too.  We got the idea here and you can find the printable here.

First they painted it.

Later in the week it was as simple as cutting out the pieces and gluing it down on some blue construction paper.  We will have to do more of these.

Ethan's Narwhal.

Hannah finished Narwhal.

Just For Fun: Various Christmas related activities.

Snowflake matching work from My Montessori Journey.

Hannah did some of the Christmas Alphabet Mazes from 1+1+1=1

Christmas Tree Matching from Little Piles Everywhere

A Snowy Sensory Bin

Hannah really enjoyed this, Ethan did not.  :D
