Painting Outside

Andrew and I really wanted to do something fun with the kids on Monday.  We went back and forth for a while thinking up ideas.  Finally we decided to go out in the backyard and paint with our feet (the kids, eww icky paint on my feet, no thanks).

All you need is paint, a tub of water for washing up, and some paper.
NOTE:  we used finger painting paper but it was too slippery, so use paper with some grit to it.

Get rid of your kids clothing and they automatically think its more exciting.

I put  out some paper on the ground and Andrew helped Hannah.  She really didn't want to get her feet dirty.

Colorful feet.

Ethan did not like it and ran away.

Hannah collected up the papers and said she was done and then asked me to wash her feet. hahahaha

Make shift drying rack.  I think they turned out nice.
I should have know that if I would be grossed out, they would be too.  Afterwards, we had a lot of fun playing in the backyard.

A Bubble Station

Hannah loves bubbles.  She also likes to blow them herself.  Unfortunately, she tends to spill the solution quickly.  When she leans over to blow bubbles she also leans over and spill the little bottle.  Last year when she ran out of bubbles I would fill it up with water and she didn't seem to notice.  This year she knows how to blow bubbles, so I needed to find a way to keep the bubbles blowing.

I saw this great idea for a bubble station on I Make Stuff, and knew I wanted to make one for Hannah.  I already had everything I needed so it came together really fast.  I love that its hand free and out if Ethan's

Bubble Station.

What you need:
Flower pot (I used a plastic one)
Plastic container with lid
String/rope
Glue gun
Feed the string through the holes in the bottom of the pot, making sure to pull the string ends even.

Put a good amount of hot glue on the bottom of your plastic container and then press firmly into the pot for 30 seconds or until stuck.

Using the string or rope attach your pot to your fence post.  Then fill with bubble solution and add a bubble wand.

Blowing bubbles.

Its a little bit of a reach but because the wand is long she can make it work.

Put the lid on when your finished and its all set for next time.

Long Weekend Fun

We had a great long weekend. We spent the weekend down in the States at the Glen.  We had really good weather and it was so nice to be down there with my family.  The only downside was Ethan wasn't sleeping well at night, so after the first two nights Andrew and I were exhausted and called it quits.  The first morning we were there was the annual parade celebrating Canada Day and July 4th.  Hannah loved it.  She had so much fun collecting all the candy thrown onto the side of the road.

Happy.

Looking for candy.

Found it.

I love how they decorated this bike.

Bagpipers, I thought Ethan would be scared but he wasn't.

She loved eating at a little table instead of her highchair.

My Aunt and Uncle had a ice cream social for the kids. So delicious.
Look at all those toppings.

She usually so good with her spoon, ice cream with your fingers.

What good day doesn't end with a nice fire.

These were just some of the fun things we did.

Finding the Fruit

In an effort to keep Hannah moving and therefore burning energy, even though it rained most of the week,  Hannah, Ethan, and I played a fruit game.  I taped pictures of fruit on the door up high enough that Hannah really needed to stretch to reach them, and Ethan couldn't get them at all; at least until Hannah handed the cards to him.  I used some that she knew and some she didn't (coconut, kiwi, pear were the harder ones because I don't buy them).  Then from the other side of the living room, I called out a fruit and she had to run and get it and then bring it back.

Big reach.

Excited to bring it back.

Ethan always in the middle of the fun.

Then into the mouth, when does it stop?

Happy Canada Day

Happy 144th Birthday Canada.
These were some Olympic Pictures last year when we went down town.

You gotta have a Mountie picture. I was pregnant with Ethan in this pictures, so technically its a family picture.

I can't believe how much Hannah has grown in a little over a year.
